One of the most labour intensive renovations in any home, it is most important that this job is done profesionally.  This is one renovation that really should be left to the experts, it is not a do-it-yourself project nor one that can have any corners cut to save time or money.  A badly renovated bathrooom has the potential to cause some very major damage to your home.

You may need structural changes, like a new window, changing the doorway, in fact, anything that needs to be done to totally transform your old bathroom.  Of course, being builders, not just a bathroom renovation company, we are able to do ALL the work from strat to finish.

Bathroom Design

Small bathrooms can be made to appear bigger and large bathrooms need to appear inviting.

For some small rooms, some tiles should not be laid to the ceiling height but kept at skirting level, or the walls may appear to "close" in on the space.  If you have a decent window in the room, dark floor tiles with light walls works well.

A well positioned mirror to help reflect maximum light to the room and smooth streamlined styled taps and fittings will help to reflect an uncluttered decor.  By using clear glass and frameless shower screens the room can appear light and airy.

Light coloured tiles to the floors and walls, in neutral tones, with the right coloured towels will help not to date the room.  Same coloured floor tiles and wall tiles can also open up the space.

Hobless (walk-in) showers to small bathrooms are a great trick as the floor tiles continue throughout and this creates a further sense of space.

Several subtle downlights can add some glamour. And consider heating the room for those cold mornings, and add ventilation devices if necessary to speed up the drying of the room after use.

A pedestal basin and mirrored recessed wall cabinet can beespecially handy for small powder rooms or ensuites.  Not only are there many elegant styles on the market, they also expose more floor space creating the illusion of the area appearing larger.

Remember, keep the design, colour and style simple.

For the larger bathroom a lot of thought has to be given to ensure it does not resemble a large public shower block when finished.  Warm colour tones can transform the room into a relaxing retreat.

From small eye catching features, to different textures and colours, a large bathroom can look either stunning or over decorated, so think on the conservative side first.

Large sized floor tiles look great on larger floor spaces and combined with a practical layout the bathroom will have good use whether it is for a single person or a family of 6.

Bath tubs come in all shapes, sizes and prices, and are making a bit of a comeback as the focal point of the bathroom.  But if you only use the bath one or twice a year, why not base your design around a larger shower recess with double shower sprays?

Double basin vanities are a great idea for both adults and kids.  Or if you have the space a 3 way bathroom can be created with separate areas for the Toilet, Vanity and shower/bath area.

If you do not have another bathroom to use, you will need to arrange an alternative, as your new bathroom will not be operational for about 2 weeks whilst it is being renovated.

We quite often carry out bathroom renovations whilst the clients are away on holidays, nice surprise to come home to and you do not have to live with the noise or intrusion.

Prior to our first on site visit, collect some magazine pictures that you feel inspire your ideas of the type of atmosphere you would like to create in your new bathroom.  This will be a great benefit when trying to describe the style of bathroom you would love to have.
