Remodelling and Redesigning......imagine the possibilites.....
Improving your home by remodelling is a great way to reinvent the layout. House redesigns are very common and can be achieved realitively simply and inexpensively.
When you purchase an established home it may not be the perfect layout, and as our family grows it may prove that the layout just does not work for you.
The older style of home usually consisted of a small dining room closed off from the kitchen, for more formal entertaining. Unless you do this type of formal dining, there is no reason why, with a bit of a remodel, this dining room could be better utilized. Perhaps the wall between the dining and kitchen could be removed allowing better access from kitchen to table and allow easy conversation between the two rooms.
Converting a previous little used dining room into a study or home office may also be a more practical use of space.
If you find you do not use your lounge room very often and tend to keep it for "good" why not consider making this room the adults retreat lounge area and let the kids use the family room areas as their TV area. The floor covering in the family room could prove to be a lot more practical for children. Adding nice doors to the lounge can create some quiet space too.
Sometimes a long narrow hallway is not entirely necessary and this could be removed to open up the living spaces and bring in more light into the house.
Remodelling your home could also be the updating of the facade of the home to create a whole new streetscape perspective. Removing old windows and doosr and replacing with newer styles can add many thousands of dollars to the value of your property.
Adding skylights to darker smaller area will also make those areas more appealing and comfortable.
Whatever remodelling you decide would gain you the most impact on the flow of your home, Impressions can carry out all the works, you do not need to deal with multiple companies, we are licensed to carry out any building works that are required.
Home Office Spaces
It can be more than a messy desk pushed into the corner of a room....
We all need a central place to keep the mountains of paperwork necessary to run the household. Whether it is bills to pay or family birthday lists we know we need to be organised.
You do not necessarily need a large space just a well designed area that will suit the purpose, it does not need to be extravagant but does need to compliment the house decor.
If you do not have the luxury of a study room, you will want to maintain a tidy work area where all the important paperwork is at your fingertips.
Consider the position of the work space area in relation to other house hold noises, like the TV or kitchen. If you are using the phone or concentrating on studying it could be distracting.
For those of you who supervise the children on the computer, you may like to make the area more family friendly and want to have enough space for 2 people using the area at the same time.
Custom designed, this area can be used for both adults and children study time. To achieve the maximum use of the space available, however small or large, it does pay to have it custom designed.
So often, the ready made home office furniture and shelving available in the stores does not suit your exact needs. Wrong colours, computer box will not fit, attractively priced but quite often poorly made. Skimping on costs in the early stage will only cost more in the long run.
Some of us may need space for a scanner, some do not have children who need to use the computer, so it makes sense to have the area customized without overspending.
The amount of lighting, ample power points, telephone access and adequate storage needs to be considered and incorporated in the initial design stage. Then the colour schemes, floor coverings, painting and seating will need to be added.
Do not under estimate the amount of storage and shelving you may need. A few years ago most of us would have owned a handful of computer discs....how many do we have now? And where did they all come from anyway?
We also need to take into consideration updating of appliances and ensuring they will fit so the home office furniture and fixtures need to be adaptable and flexible to change.
Impressions can help you design the fittings and build into the design accessories such as CD racks, pull out keyboard shelves, adjustable shelving etc., and have them finished in colours that will work in with your current furnishings.
